Forward Prize Discussion Night
An opportunity for members and guests to give their views and discuss the 6 short listed poems for the Forward Prize, Best Single Poem, 2010.
We encourage members and guests who want to come to this event to obtain a copy of the Forward Book of Poetry 2010 so that they can read the poems and contibute to an informed discussion. Bring your copy along on the night!
G S Fraser Lecture 2010
The School of English at Leicester University will host the annual G S Fraser Lecture given by Nick Everett, Lecturer in English and American Studies at the University of Leicester. The Lecture is entitled, Philip Larkin and Poetic Form.
This event is held at the University of Leicester, Lecture Theatre 2 in the Ken Edwards Building at 7.30.p.m
Free to Members of LPS. Guests £4.00 (concessions £3.00) on the door.
Jean Sprackland
Jean Sprackland is the author of three books of poetry and a collection of short stories. Her poem .’The Birkdale Nightingale’ was shortlisted for the Forward Prize 2007 (Best Single Poem). Enjoy her reading in Leicester.
LPS/LWC Crossover night – two sides of the same coin?
Leicester Writers Club members Gisela Hoyle, Mike Brewer, Maxine Linnell, Marilyn Ricci and Siobhan Logan are also members of the Leicester Poetry Society. On this special fusion evening they will perform as members of both societies, compered nervously by wannabee writer and poet Graham Norman. No fakes, no imitations, these are the real thing as their membership cards will prove.

Bring a picnic of your favourite poems to read in the Harold Martin Botanic Gardens, Glebe Road, Oadby.
n.b. food picnics are not allowed in the Botanic Gardens but plants love poetry.
