He is Reader in Poetry and Poetics at Birmingham City University. He is the author of Late Modernist Poetics: from Pound to Prynne (Manchester University Press) and has published widely on literary history and theory. He is a founding editor of fragmente: a magazine of contemporary poetics and a member of the editorial boards of the Oxford Literary Review and the new Journal of British and Irish Innovative Poetry. His poetry has featured in British and U.S. anthologies.
