OPEN POETRY COMPETITION 2008 promoted by LEICESTER POETRY SOCIETY
Prizes: 1st - £200 2nd - £100 3rd - £50
Entries to be received by 17th October 2008
CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. Poems should be the original work of the entrant, unpublished and in English. They must not have been a prize-winner in any competition. 2. Poems should not exceed 40 lines in length (excluding title). 3. Only postal entries will be accepted. 4. Entry fee: £3.00 sterling per poem. Do not send cash. Please make cheques/POs payable to Leicester Poetry Society. Entries must be TYPED on ONE side of A4 paper, which must not bear any form of identification. A separate sheet of A4 paper must bear: (i) The title(s) of the poem(s) (ii) The writer's name and full contact details. 5. Poems cannot be returned or amended once submitted. No correspondence will be entered into. · For receipt of entry (if required) enclose an SAE marked RECEIPT. · For a results sheet enclose another SAE marked RESULTS. 6. The names of the winners will be announced at the LPS Meeting on 7th November 2008. Winners will be invited to read at an Awards Ceremony in Leicester on 28th November 2008. Copyright will remain with the author, but the competition organisers reserve the right to publish the winning poems in the Society’s publication The Stanza. 7. The competition is open to all except current members of Leicester Poetry Society Committee. 8. The organisers reserve the right to return poems and entrance fee, if the need arises. 9.
